If you want the beaches and the ocean views, but you’re also a passionate foodie who loves to try new flavours, cinnamon-scented Grenada could well be the place for you. Twelve degrees north of the equator, this is a sugar and spice island on which to spend lazy days in a hammock, sipping on a nutmeg-infused rum punch. Life here is mellow, unrushed and fragrantly seasoned.

Take a hike to the Seven Sisters Falls, set high in Grenada’s Central Mountain Range. The trails take you through beautiful rainforest scenery where you’ll see plenty of bird life and maybe even the occasional monkey. The hike is well worth the effort as you’ll get to enjoy a refreshing swim in the natural pools at the base of the falls.
George and Frederick
Visit the historic Fort George and Fort Frederick where you’ll get a glimpse of Grenada’s colourful past as well as a panoramic view of St George’s, the island’s capital. Carry on to the Grenada National Museum and Parliament House, and end your day at the Westerhall Rum Distillery, with ample time to sample the delicious rum on offer!
Take the hydrofoil to Carriacou
Many people won’t know that two smaller islands (Carriacou and Petit Martinique) near Grenada make up this spicy trio. Take a day trip over to beautiful Carriacou and enjoy some snorkelling off Paradise Beach and lunch in a local restaurant.
Underwater Sculpture Park
Grenada is the site of the world’s first underwater sculpture park, where British artist Jason deCaires Taylor has carved a series of haunting cement and steel sculptures that lie at the bottom of the shallow waters of a marine park just off Moliniere Bay.
